Blackjack - A One Player Game
Understand this if you don't understand anything else about Playing Blackjack. The Game of Blackjack is a one player card game. The Blackjack Player's opponent is the Blackjack Card Game itself, not the blackjack dealer. The dealer uses a fixed strategy at all times, standing on 17 while hitting on anything less... plain and simple!
Blackjack - Dealer Strategy

That's right, the Blackjack Dealer has no choice as to how to play his hand, the house always dictates the Basic Blackjack Strategy the dealer is to employ. There are only two common Blackjack Dealer Strategies employed in today's Casino's. These are the fixed dealer strategies that determine when a Blackjack Dealer will draw or stand. Blackjack and Your Emotions
If you want to Win at Blackjack, you have to keep your emotions under control at all times. The Blackjack Dealer is only the messenger of the outcome of your Blackjack Game. If you end up losing in the end, don't take you're losses out on him or her.
Remember, you can Win at Blackjack. You certainly didn't come to your favorite Online Blackjack Game Site or Casino to lose the money in your jeans or purse. So, if you are losing, keep a clear head, and practice the "three-losses-and-you-move" routine... Blackjack Strategy that should be closely adhered to.
Blackjack Game and Your Focus
Stay focused on the dealer and his up card, not your neighbor's cards. Your Blackjack Strategy should never involve any other player simply because they happen to be sitting at the same Blackjack table as you are. If you feel other players at the table are bothering you with their Blackjack Playing Strategy, simply move to another table.
Blackjack and Drinking
Drinking is not a Good Blackjack Strategy. In the real world of Gambling, players often lose thousands waiting for their free drink.
Blackjack and Discipline
You must be disciplined in your Stategy at all times when Playing Blackjack to Win. Stay sober and set loss limits and stay focused on your Winning Blackjack Goals. Never bet more than you can afford to lose. Your rent, bank payments and other personal and family expenses have no place at the Online Blackjack Game or Casino Table.
Blackjack and Casino Premiums
Even the small time Blackjack Player deserves to be rewarded for play, and there is nothing wrong with asking for a free meal or some other premium. You can be sure that the pit personnel aren't likely tracking your play, you will need to ask.
Blackjack and Rules of Play
The average Blackjack Player doesn't even consider the Rules of Blackjack Game Play before sitting down at the table. If you don't know the Basic Rules and Strategy of Successful Blackjack Game Play, learn them first on a 25-cent video blackjack machine. Don't let a five-dollar Blackjack Card Game be your classroom.
Blackjack - Knowing When to Quit
It's best to quit playing Blackjack when you are feeling tired. At the very least, take a break and rest for an hour or two, and remember the "three-losses-and-you-move" Strategy of Blackjack Card Game Play.
Blackjack and The Number of Decks
When compared to a Single Deck Blackjack Card Game, the handicaps are as follows...
- -0.35% for two decks
- -0.48% for four decks
- -0.54% for six decks
- -0.58% for eight decks
The Blackjack Card Game with the fewest decks always gives you the best advantage, with the house edge going up quite substantially when you go from one deck to two, but then the change is becomes less and less dramatic with every additional deck of cards added to the Blackjack Play. This amounts to a cost of $0.50 per hour for every -0.1% handicap when playing 100 hands per hour at $5.00 a hand.
Playing a Blackjack Game with two decks of cards will cost you $1.75 per hour more than the same Blackjack Game played with one deck of cards, and the cost to you goes up with every subsequent increase in the number of decks being used.
Blackjack House Rules to Look For
Always look for the Online Blackjack Game or Casino with the best house rules. Avoid hostile Blackjack Playing conditions by searching out the following Favorable Conditions of Blackjack Play...
- Single deck Blackjack Card Games
- Blackjack Surrender, both Early and Late
- Double Down allowed on any two cards
- Double Down allowed after splitting pairs
- Multiple pair splitting allowed, plus the re-splitting of Aces
- Dealer stands on a soft 17, as opposed to standing on only a hard 17
- Deep deck penetration

These win and loss swings are normal and to be expected, and remember, if you Play the Game of Blackjack Correctly, utilizing Good Blackjack Strategy, you will be a winner in the long run.
As a rule of thumb, you should multiply your normal bet by 40 to determine the amount of money to bring to a Blackjack table for one session of Blackjack Play. And remember, only play with money you can afford to lose. Set a loss limit and never reach into your pocket for more.
The Blackjack Surrender
The Surrender is allowed in many Casinos and Online Blackjack Games. Surrender allows a player to forfeit half his bet in exchange for not having to play his or her original hand against the dealer. When you have the chance to surrender, stick to the following Basic Blackjack Strategy...
- Surrender 15's and 16's against a dealer's 10
- Surrende 16 against a dealer's ace
- Do not surrender 8-8 - split it instead, always!
- Otherwise, don't surrender.
Blackjack and The Empty Blackjack Table
Don't ever be afraid of sitting at a Blackjack table where there are no other players. An empty Blackjack table gives you the opportunity to sit at any seat of choice. The Blackjack novice often makes the mistake of trying to crowd into a busy Blackjack Card Game already in progress. Safety in numbers may be good for other games, such as Craps, but not for Blackjack. If you can get a one-on-one Blackjack Game with the Dealer, these are the best odds you can hope for.
Casual Blackjack Players are oftern intimidated by the prospect of this situation - don't be!
Blackjack and Card Counting
The first and most popular method of Card Counting in the Game of Blackjack was developed by a Dr. Thorp. It is based on the counting of 10's. Knowing the percentage of 10's left in the deck helps determine when you are in a favorable position to Increase your Blackjack Bet. One of the most important things to know is that there are sixteen 10's and thirty-six non-10's in a deck of cards. Dr Thorp discovered that when the ratio of non-10's to 10's is less than 2.25 to 1, the deck is ripe for a win.
At the outset of a Blackjack Card Game, the deck stands at 36 to 16, or 2.25 to 1. This gives the house an advantage of 0.1 percent. If the cards on the second round were 27 to 14, or less than 2 to 1, then the odds have shifted to the player and he should increase his bet (only slightly as the odds are only slightly in his favour). If, on the other hand, the second round stood at 18 to 11, the percentage is drastically in the player's favour and the bet must be increased accordingly.

Blackjack - Basic Strategy
In reality, you would be correct, from an effective Blackjack Strategy perspective, if you said the objective in a Blackjack Game is to "Break the Dealer". The reason being, that the Blackjack Dealer has no choice but to "Hit" up to and including a 17 hand (some Blackjack Casino's hold on a "soft" 17). Now, take into consideration this...
- The odds of the dealer busting increase as his total approaches 17
- By standing, even with a low total, the player eliminates any chance of busting
So, what this means is that a Good Blackjack Strategy is to "stand low", thus eliminating any possibility of busting, while at the same time waiting out the dealers turn to bust. Add to this Basic Blackjack Game Strategy, that you begin betting low and then double your wager every time you lose. If you have the bank roll to hang in there through a few loses, you "stand low" when appropriate to do so, and you wait for the dealer to bust, you will always eventually come out ahead.
- Always stand on hard 17 or higher if the dealer's showing card is 7 or lower.
- Always stand on hard 13 through 16 if the dealer's showing card is 6 or lower, but hit if the dealer's showing card is 7 through Ace.
- Always stand on hard 12 or higher if the dealer is showing 4, 5 or 6.
